Ursinus College partnered with The Collegeville Economic Development Corp. (CEDC) to provide outdoor family fun April 20 on the Ursinus campus. Community Day featured the talents of the Ursinus campus and community by offering music, art, dance, Earth Day activities, Ursinus athletic events, and crafts, food and gift items. A detailed schedule can be found here.
The event showcased the College’s partnership with the community. Included were performances by the Ursinus College Dance Company, the Ursinus Jazz Ensemble, and the a cappella singing Bearitones (male singers) and B’Naturals (female singers), tours of the Berman Museum outdoor sculpture collection and booths sponsored by community merchants and organizations. A “Kids Need Fun!” area included carnival games for all ages with basketball, a baloon competition, spin art and face painting. The talented students from The Community Music School energetic dancers from The Collegeville Dance Depot performed.
The event was re-energized this year, said Rachael Morrison, Executive Director of the non-profit CEDC. Collegeville’s 2013 Community Day was sponsored by the Collegeville office of Susquehanna Bank, located on Rt. 29 near Wawa. “Susquehanna is known for giving back to the communities it serves by funding programs which encourage proactive community and economic development and access to the arts,” said Morrison. “We greatly appreciate their support!”
